Wellness Farm at Lankenau Medical Center

Greener Partners is proud to be collaborating with the Lankenau Medical Center on a year-round organic garden on the campus of the hospital, the first of its kind in the region.

Farm Features

Formally called the Delema G. Deaver Wellness Garden, the half acre farm will feature educational areas, a greenhouse, compost area, vertical gardens and space for herbs, seeds, flowers and fruits as well as a tasting station. As with the Farm Explorer, Greener Parters believes strongly in the power of the senses: using touch, smell and taste in the exploration of fresh, healthy food.Wellness Garden plans

Community Benefits

The farm will be a hands-on classroom for more than 10,000 students who come to Lankenau for health education. In addition, medical students will tour the farm and take courses related to the role of fresh vegetables and healthy eating in preventive care.

The garden produces more than 2,000 pounds of organic produce per year, to go to Lankenau’s farmer’s market for patients, visitors and employees and for food banks.  The produce will also be used in cooking demonstration classes at the hospital.

The garden will be a relaxing retreat from the hospital, open to the public but also patients, employees and visitors.

The Farmer

Jen Malkoun, whom some of you may know from Hillside Farm at Elwyn, is the lead farmer at the Wellness Garden. We are so happy to have her back with Greener Partners, and she’ll be busy there growing food and doing educational work with the thousands of youth and adults who visit. Stop by and see her starting in late July!
