Thank you to all of our dedicated partners, donors, sponsors, CSA members and volunteers who so generously supported Greener Partners in 2015! Because of you, we were able to positively impact more than 20,000 children, families and seniors with our food access initiatives and programs on healthy eating from across the five-county Philadelphia region. Here are just a few examples of how your support made a difference:
- 8,000 pounds of fresh produce grown at Longview Farm was donated throughout the Philadelphia region.
- Our two Farm Explorer mobile farm trucks, full of growing vegetables, traveled 6,000 miles reaching more than 8,200 students at high-poverty schools where children could harvest, smell, touch and taste fresh food, often for the first time.
- At Guild House Farm, our urban farm in Philadelphia, teens and seniors worked side by side to grow 4,200 pounds of produce from the production garden, donating 3,700 pounds to elderly residents and local food pantries.
- We broke ground on a first-of-its-kind Wellness Garden at Lankenau Medical Center which will serve as an outdoor nutrition education classroom for thousands of school children annually and will also address the food insecurity and chronic disease management needs of the hospital’s patients.
Your support in 2016 helps ensure we can continue strengthening public access to fresh local food, educating people of all ages about the origins of their food and empowering individuals to make healthier choices.
Have a wonderful, prosperous and healthy 2016!
