What We Do

Greener Partners' goal is to make fresh, local food accessible to everyone.

Greener Partners believes in good food: food that is fresh, healthy and delicious. Imagine how a fresh strawberry tastes when it’s picked right off the bush. You can taste the nourishment, and it tastes delicious. Using good food, grown on our own farms, Greener Partners gets young people excited about eating more healthfully and about the miraculous science behind the plants we eat.

In addition to teaching kids how to harvest, cook and prepare fresh food, we believe in supporting the local food economy in many ways. We offer Farm-to-Office programs, our teen interns sell at farmers’ markets and we donate thousands of pounds of farm-grown produce to those in need.

We grow vegetables and fruits at our farms to distribute to those in need free of charge or at a significantly reduced cost. In 2017, we donated more than 20,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, reaching hundreds of families each week at several different locations:

  • Patients at Lankenau Medical Center with food from the Deaver Wellness Farm
  • Low-income senior citizens in Philadelphia at Guild House Farm
  • School families and neighbors at Marshall Street, Hancock and Gotwals elementary schools in Norristown
  • Organizations including Philabundance, Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger & Salvation Army Family Shelter

At the majority of our distribution sites, we do much more than hand out food! We support a community of healthy eaters with recipes, food demonstrations and opportunities to cook together and eat together.
